Spring Blooms and New Beginnings: A Fresh Collection at Molarky Penzance

A Winter’s Work, A Spring Celebration

I spent the winter months crafting this collection in my studio, surrounded by vibrant fabrics and vintage scraps, working towards the promise of brighter days ahead. There’s something wonderfully hopeful about creating spring florals while the weather’s still chilly – it’s like holding onto a secret that you know will soon bloom into reality.

Spring bulbs have always held a special place in my heart. Daffodils, snowdrops, and tulips are among my absolute favourite flowers – they’re so unapologetically cheerful, aren’t they? This collection builds on floral designs I’ve created in previous years, but I’ve added fresh new tulip and daffodil pieces that I’m really rather excited about.

The Fabric Stories

As always, I’ve been working with a mix of carefully chosen fabrics, each with its own story. Some of the pieces feature luxurious Liberty of London fabrics – those dazzling colours and high quality prints that Liberty is renowned for. The tulip earrings, in particular, have become an instant favourite of mine. That vibrant red just *pops*, doesn’t it? There’s something so confident and joyful about wearing a bold splash of colour.

One Liberty print that captured my imagination is called Persephone. I was initially drawn to it by the name alone – the Greek goddess of spring and renewal, emerging from the underworld to bring life back to the earth. The fabric itself features intricate passionflowers, which sit beautifully alongside the classic spring bulbs in this collection. It felt like the perfect bridge between mythology and nature, between the unexpected and the familiar.

Each piece is handcrafted using my signature fabric button technique, or hand-cut fabric-covered wooden shapes that I carefully seal to make them water-resistant and practical for everyday wear. Because I work with vintage and donated fabric scraps gifted by other makers, no two pieces are ever quite the same – even within the same design, each one has its own individual character.

Finding a Home at Molarky

I’ve been working with Molarky since October last year, and it’s been such a lovely partnership. The story of how we connected is rather serendipitous, really – I spotted a call-out on social media from Mo, the shop owner, looking for local makers. I got in touch, and she immediately fell in love with my William Morris jewellery collection. From there, it just felt like the perfect fit.

The shop itself is tucked at the top of Morrab Road in Penzance, and if you haven’t visited yet, you absolutely must! Molarky describes itself as “a vibrant treasure trove of local artisan creations,” and that’s exactly what it is. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an explosion of colour and creativity – from abstract art and sculptures to macramé, decoupage glassware, pottery, handmade bags, wall art, soaps, and of course, jewellery. It’s the kind of shop where every visit reveals something new, something unexpected, something that makes you smile.

What strikes me most about Molarky is its energy. It’s bright, eclectic, and wonderfully quirky – absolutely bursting with personality. Mo has this incredible talent for merchandising; she’s always improving and moving things around, keeping the displays fresh and inviting. The shop never feels static or samey, which I think is what makes it such a joy to visit (and revisit!). There’s always something to discover.

Mo herself is a wonderful, warm, and genuinely lovely person. She’s not just a shop owner – she’s an artist too, and you’ll find some of her own colourful artwork displayed among the other makers’ work. That’s what I appreciate most about working with Molarky: it’s not just a retail space, it’s a celebration of creativity and a genuine community of makers. Mo absolutely champions the independent artists and makers in her shop, always shouting about our work and supporting us wholeheartedly.

For me, it’s the shared love of colour and quirkiness that makes Molarky the ideal home for my jewellery. My William Morris pieces, my floral collections, my bold use of pattern – they all sit beautifully alongside the other handcrafted treasures in the shop. It’s the kind of place where people come specifically to find something different, something special, something that tells a story. And that’s exactly what I create.

What I love about working with independent shops like Molarky is that they truly understand what makes handmade special. They appreciate that each piece has been created with care and intention, and they share that story with their customers. It’s exactly the kind of environment where my spring collection can really shine.

Wearable Optimism

When I create jewellery, I’m always thinking about how it will make someone feel when they wear it. With this spring collection, I wanted to capture that mood-boosting, optimistic energy that comes with the changing season. These are pieces designed to lift your spirits, to add a pop of confidence to your day, to remind you that brighter days are here.

Whether it’s a pair of cheerful daffodil studs (from £10.50) or a statement Liberty tulip pendant (£18), each piece is designed to bring a little more joy and colour into everyday life. They’re meant to be worn, enjoyed, and treasured – not saved for special occasions, but to make ordinary days feel a bit more special.

See Them in Person

Most of this spring collection is currently exclusive to Molarky Penzance (find out more by visiting their website with this link), though you’ll find some of my other designs available on my Folksy shop online. But there really is nothing quite like seeing handmade jewellery in person – the way the colours catch the light, the texture of the fabric, the weight of a pendant in your hand. If you’re in Penzance, do pop into Molarky and have a look. The team there will be happy to let you try pieces on and find something that speaks to you.

Spring is here, and I couldn’t be more delighted to share these new designs with you. Which bloom would you choose – the cheerful daffodil, the bold tulip, or the mythological passionflower? I’d love to hear!
