Product Details

These cute singing thrushes are the other bird designs on William Morris' most iconic design - Strawberry Thief.

Set on a background of vintage blue, these birds are singing away, surrounded by flowers and foliage.

For these statement earrings, I’ve then created two 28mm flat back buttons using this gorgeous fabric. I’ve then added a circle of FSC approved wood in the back recess of the button and hand painted them with a metallic deep red artist acrylic paint. After two coats of this luscious paint, I added two layers of clear acrylic varnish.

I've then added gold plated heart shaped bails to the back of each earring and added gold plated surgical steel earring hooks.

The approximate drop length of these stunning statement earrings is just over 5.5cm.

These earrings will come to you safe and carefully packaged in a UK Made eco-friendly recycled kraft card jewellery box - perfect for gifting to a friend who love Morris designs, Victorian ornament, birds or nature.

About the design: Strawberry Thief is William Morris' most well-known and popular designs and these pendants are made using beautiful red cotton fabric featuring cheeky birds stealing strawberries and other birds singing.

He based the pattern (dated 1883) and name on the thrushes which frequently stole the strawberries in the kitchen garden of his countryside home, Kelmscott Manor, in Gloucestershire. Despite the fact that this design was one of the most expensive printed furnishings available from Morris & Co., (due to the particular printing method employed) it became a firm favourite with clients.
