Narwhal whale fabric button brooch
Narwhal – often called the unicorns of the sea – is the star of this unusual fabric button brooch. They are part of the toothed-whales and their scientific name, Monodon monoceros, is derived from Greek: "one-tooth one-horn".
For fans of whales everywhere, I’ve created a larger 3.8cm fabric covered flat backed button from 100% quilting cotton fabric designed by the fabulous UK design house Lewis and Irene.I also added some toy filling to create a nice dome.An FSC approved birch plywood wooden disc was then secured to the reverse of the button.
I’ve simply sealed the wood with specialist microcrystalline wax to let the natural grain of the wood shine through.A Stainless-steel brooch back with safety clasp was then secured to the back of the brooch. The brooch back is nickel, cadmium and lead free.
As the brooch measures just under 4cm, it is an ideal accessory for a jacket, jumper or on your favourite scarf - even on a bag!
This unique brooch will come to you safe and carefully packaged in a UK Made eco-friendly recycled kraft card jewellery box with brand logo - perfect for gifting to a friend who loves cetaceans, animals or sea life - or to keep as a gift for yourself!
